![]() Killing enemy generals for loot is cool but executions cause dissatisfaction with other factions depending on if they were enemies or allies. Consider the grey % corruption building, reforms/admins, anicallaries.Īncillaries make good diplomacy currency but maxes out at 4 giftables per session. Blue generals can recruit trebuchets.Īmbush is very broken (at least on normal) if you see an incoming enemy just park an army along the pathway and with a good ambush chance (hover over the land like trees, plains and tooltip tells you the ambush%) its practically a free win or at least hugely in your favor as you can destroy the easy ranged targets.īe mindful of corruption as you grow bigger midgame because it will eat a good chunk of your tax income. Blue (and I think purple) have access to flaming arrows perk in the skill tree. If you run a huge food deficit or even gold you can consider trading a city territory away for less food consumption and whatever else you can get.īlue generals enable formations for higher tier units. For that matter, reducing upkeep and salaries can give a bigger bang for the buck than increasing settlement income in endgame. Trade, tributary, and diplomacy income are not affected by corruption, so they’re better than tax income if you can maintain a steady stream. There are three settlements which each give a % reduction to cost and upkeep. ![]() Push northwest if you want to recruit elite cavalry. ![]() Vassals will betray you if they think they can declare independence and join a coalition or alliance that is stronger than you combined. Only vassalize factions who have few friends to turn against you. The former can literally convince your sworn enemy to give up and become your vassal, and offers you a temporary reprieve and income boost. Destroying 3 armies in the same turn has a much more drastic effect than destroying 3 armies one turn apart each. The campaign AI is very heavily biased by chain reactions. It’s not useless, it’s just not been used right. If you charge down the flanks you may still trigger charge reflection on your cav, and I’ve seen a lot of players claim their heavy, elite shock cav is useless because it loses half its model count on a charge. Make such a deal and hover over their attitude towards you a few turns later you’ll find the “favourable deals with us,” modifier.ĭon’t flank charge spears with cav. The game doesn’t directly tell you this, but giving an AI faction a deal at a +X balance, rather than at the exact 0.0 balance, makes that faction like you more. If they like you enough they may not even expect you to pay the full amount. If you’re struggling in a war and your coalition members refuse to join you and offer direct military support, try other options. The game is trying to be very transparent.ĭon’t always take the obvious approach. It may seem obvious to a lot of players, but a lot of players have been confounded by some diplomatic decisions that they didn’t understand. For example, hovering over the accept/propose button on a deal tells you how others feel about your deal, and also tells you how the change in the relative balance of power affects your deal, hovering over an individual portion of a deal tells you how the +/- rating for that is calculated, etc. No seriously, this game gives you a lot of information, it’s a lot more transparent than previous games. ![]() But again with any start the goal is to try and focus on fighting one front at a time.Hover over everything in the diplomacy screen. You can also ally with Lui Bei early who can protect your Eastern front so you can focus on building to destroy Cao Cao. Lords will be your strongest units charging in especially Lu Bu, so just keep cheaper militia to hold the line and hammer/anvil them or charge their ranged units. WH2 will feel a bit bare comparatively with basically no diplomacy, resource management and immortal lords (no family trees and courts etc.) but is an incredible game for the battles and unit variety I would suggest picking it up while they are on sale (till Jan 5th) as well as WH1 to be able to play the mortal empires campaignĪs for game tips, as with most TW games, start slow, solidify your borders and starting province which is usually given to you by having to complete the first steps or beating a YT rebellion etc. Personally, I think 3k is the best all-round game, the UI and gameplay are the most user friendly with the help screens etc and general QoL features, Warhammer 2 is the one I've played the most (and is the community favourite) as it has far more replayability. Say goodbye to your family hahaha, I've put thousands of hours into the TW series, such an amazing game format and 3K is probably the best one to start on. ![]()
