Time Capsule Backups Are Missing My macbook pro told me today that it hadn't backed up in 10 days. If I need a new one what is a good replacement for the Airport Time Capsule that includes the distribution function or do I need to do that in a different way. I have checked this out and it appears my impression may be incorrect and I may need a new backup device. I was under the impression from my Time Machine information in Preferences that "the oldest backups are deleted when your disk becomes full" and that I could just use my current setup indefinitely accepting the fact that old stuff is deleted. It appears the disc is full and my backups have stopped. Is my best move to erase the time capsule and start over? The total backup amount for two computers is about 580g and not a lot gets changed each day. After that there are backups for yesterday (September 7 and then normal backups for today, but now, the backup seems to be hung on preparing backup.Īdditionally the storage shows only 1.7g available of 2T so I'm guessing that is why the backup is going so slowly, despite adding only very small files to each update. Looking at Time Machine, I see a backup for Jand the next one is for Augnothing in between. It is possible that this is a coincidence that I just noticed. I updated my airport Base station firmware to 7.8.1 at the end of August and now I find that a lot of my backups have been erased. ![]()
